Sustainability: repair furniture instead of buying new

A wobbly chair, a sagging wardrobe door, a drawer that sticks: that's usually no reason to replace a piece of furniture. Many kinds of damage can be fixed with little effort — saving money and resources.

Typical damage that's easy to fix

We repair these problems regularly — usually in a short time:

  • Loose or sagging hinges
  • Stripped screw holes in chipboard
  • Sticking drawers or drawers that fall out
  • Wobbly tables, chairs and beds
  • Loose or damaged back panels

If a screw no longer holds, the furniture isn't lost. The old hole is drilled out, a wooden dowel is glued in and, once dry, a new pilot hole is drilled. Alternatively, there are special repair compounds for chipboard.

In heavily stressed places, such as bed frames, additional metal brackets or larger furniture connectors help for the long term.

Adjust hinges instead of replacing them

A sagging door is usually not down to a broken hinge but to a shifted setting or a loose screw. Concealed hinges can be readjusted in height, depth and sideways with a screwdriver. Only if the hinge itself is broken does it need replacing.

When a repair is no longer worth it

To be honest: not always. Chipboard that has swollen from water can no longer be repaired to be stable. Replacement is also often the better solution if load-bearing parts are broken in several places. We'll tell you openly on site what's worth it and what isn't.

Why repairing is sustainable

Every repaired piece of furniture doesn't need to be disposed of, newly produced and delivered. With high-quality or much-loved furniture in particular, a repair is therefore not only the cheaper but also the more environmentally friendly choice.
